Course Overview
The ICT Technician course is offered under the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework in accordance with the standards of the TVET CDACC and the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).
The program is designed to equip trainees with Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Values required for effective performance in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.
The course is offered at Level 4 to Level 6 (TVET CDACC) and Grade III, II, and I (NITA), with emphasis on:

· Networking and systems administration
· Software installation and troubleshooting
· Database and basic programming concepts
· Cybersecurity and data management
· ICT support services and entrepreneurship

Entry Requirements
Level 6
· KCSE C- (Minus) and above
· Duration: 1½ – 2 years
Level 5
· KCSE D (Plain)
· Duration: 1 year
Level 4
· KCSE D- (Minus) or equivalent
· Duration: 6 months – 1 year
NITA Programme
· Open entry (no minimum academic requirement)
ASSESSMENT AND EXAMINATION
Assessment is conducted in line with TVET CDACC Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) and NITA guidelines, and includes:
· Continuous formative assessment (Theory and Practical)
· Internal summative assessment by the institution
· External assessment and certification by:
o TVET CDACC
o National Industrial Training Authority (where applicable)
This ensures evaluation of both:
· Learning outcomes
· Practical occupational competence
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion, trainees are eligible for:
1. Institutional Certificate
· Issued by the training institution
2. TVET CDACC Certificate
· Awarded upon successful external assessment based on approved occupational standards
3. NITA Trade Test Certificate
· Issued at Grade III, II, or I after successful trade testing
Certification is subject to compliance with:
· TVET CDACC regulations
· NITA assessment requirement
